The Boys – The best Superhero stuff of 2019!

But what makes The Boys stand out from them is it swims past the comfort zone of action-adventures and brings us an unapologetic satire of world politics and religions.

The world might have got a superhero global blockbuster that dethroned a movie of blue aliens, that reigned for a decade at number 1 spot, but it doesn’t conceal the truth that we are going through the superhero fatigue in terms of content and story. The new amazon prime series “The Boys” is a breath of fresh air in this genre which warns us what will be the inevitable destiny of superhero fandom.

When superheroes are backed by a multi-billion business empire, a small team of guys seeks vengeance on the corrupt power-mongering heroes who turned their life upside down. We have seen the wrongdoings of supes and how much worse they can be in “Injustice” and Zach Snyder’s iconic movie”Watchmen”. But what makes The Boys stand out from them is it swims past the comfort zone of action-adventures and brings us an unapologetic satire of world politics and religions.

Emotions like personal trauma, grief, the rage for retaliation, regret, jealousy, and sadism are amazingly portrayed in this series. And it does not even need much time for the viewers to blend with the emotions of the characters. When Jack Quaid shines as a smart tech geek Hughie, Karl Urban steals the show as Billy Butcher, the leader of the boys throughout the 8 episodes of the first season. There are also many other characters like Homelander, Ms. Stillwell who put up remarkable acting. Well-Written dialogues added much more strength to the excellent story line. And apt black humor keeps us engaged in every episode.

As for nitpicking, there were a few instances where the Computer graphics were not up to the mark, especially for A-Train and Starlight. Moreover, I wish all episodes were equally paced since some episodes were out of this world, but a few were just very good. And obviously, there are lots of violence, profanity, and bloodshed indicating that this is for the grownup audience.

When season 1 ends with a fantastic twist, I cannot wait to see the second season. And for me, it turned out to be the best superhero stuff of this year, even beating Avengers: Endgame!
